A lot of people feel very strongly about cruising – either they love it, hate it or have no desire to try it! I was always curious about cruising – how fun can it be to sleep in a little room on a moving ship? Won’t I get bored on sea days? Really….how much can you do on a boat? I was also a little concerned about getting sea sick. Well, I’m now a card-carrying member of the group of people that love cruising and I’m going to tell you why: (in no particular order)

#1 – The ships are huge! Until you’ve actually seen a cruise ship in person, you can’t imagine how large they really are. There is so much to explore! From the casino to the waterslides to the theater, there’s always something new to see.

#2 – The rooms are not bad! I’ve stayed in both balcony and inside staterooms. The balcony stateroom provides you with more square footage and a little more space to relax. It’s so relaxing to just sit on the balcony and read a book. On the flip side, the inside stateroom was perfectly fine for me and my daughter. We were not in our room all that often and didn’t really mind the smaller space.

#3 – The staff is amazing! I love having the same servers every night at dinner. They know your name by the second night. The cabin stewards take such good care of you. Take the time to talk to the workers. They come from all over the world are very interesting individuals!

#4 – Food, food and more food! You should never go hungry on a cruise ship! There is so much to eat on the buffet. You can ask for seconds or thirds in the main dining room. Even for my extremely picky daughter, she was always full. (That might also be due to the ice cream, which leads me onto #4.)

#5 – Ice Cream at virtually any hour of the day! My daughter feels that it is her calling to work at Dairy Queen because she makes the best ice cream cone swirl!

#6 – The entertainment on a cruise is amazing! There are game shows, dance lessons, BINGO, karaoke, and deck parties, to name a few. Dance contests on deck were a favorite activity for my little dancing queen. We enjoyed going to the theater every night for the after-dinner show. The entertainment staff is fantastic!

#7 – Sea days are so much fun! There are always so many activities scheduled during sea days, you will never be bored. If you want to just chill by the pool all day, that’s ok too!

#8 – Different sights almost every day. This might be my favorite thing about cruising. I love to travel and visit different places. On a cruise, you have the opportunity to do this daily. Wake up in Jamaica one day and Grand Cayman the next. You can climb Dunns River Falls one day and swim with stingrays the next. The options are endless!

#9 – Towel animals!! I love seeing towel animals in my room every night and on the pool deck in the morning. I am absolutely amazed by them!

My list could go on and on. If you’ve never cruised, I highly encourage you to give it a try! Start with a short 3 or 4 day cruise. I promise, you will be hooked!
