Step 1: Secure your registration – The golden ticket for runDisney is the registration. The registration window is several months before the race weekend and often sells out the same day it opens! Quick fingers and luck will be on your side for this. If you don’t get the coveted registration ticket, you can also secure a spot by fundraising for an authorized charity. There are several to choose from and it’s fun to put some more meaning behind your miles.
Step 2: Book your accommodations and make travel plans – I love to grab my accommodations just before or just after getting my registration spot secured.
This way I know that I have a place to stay and can start planning my trip to keep me motivated. Many hotel categories will sell out after registration occurs with the many runners booking their rooms. Securing this early helps to ensure you get the room you want. Your MDT Advisor can help pick the perfect resort for you for any race weekend.
Step 3: Plan out your training schedule and train! The most important part for any race is training. This helps you reduce your risk of injury and allows you to enjoy your race day. The special part about runDisney is the unique characters and entertainment on the course. You also get to see parts of the park that you wouldn’t see otherwise. If you follow a training plan prior to the race, this will allow you to enjoy these special sightings because you can trust your training.
Step 4: Pick up your race bib and explore the expo. You made it to race weekend! The cherry on top is picking up your race bib as the ESPN Wide World of Sports prior to race day and exploring the expo. This is the last step before toeing up to the start line on race morning. You put in the work and now you get to enjoy it. Be on the lookout as you might run into celebrities like Olympian Jeff Galloway!
