Do you get the winter blues and struck by the travel bug this time of year? It’s a sure sign that it is time to plan a Spring Break escape. A spring break trip can be a 4 or 5 day trip that gets you out of your daily grind or it could be 7 days or more depending on your schedule or the amount of time you want to get away. There are different types of trips and destinations that are perfect the perfect getaway. I am excited to share my top five with you!

1. Walt Disney World Resort – If you are on the East Coast, you can hop on a plane, land in
the Orlando area in less than two hours, hop on a shuttle and, ta da, be at the Walt Disney World Resort! You have four theme parks, two water parks (Blizzard Beach is reopening on March 17, 2024!), Disney Springs, miniature golf, a Cirque du Soleil show, spa treatments to book, and more! Did you know there are over 200 restaurants to pick from at the Walt Disney World Resort? I bet you can find something for even the pickiest eater. Spend time at your resort and enjoy time time relaxing at the pool. Do you love beautiful flowers and gardening? This year’s EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival runs from February 28, to May 27, 2024! While the weather is still cold at home, you can be inspired by the beautiful plants, flowers, and delicious food! Remember, you can make your Walt Disney World trip as busy or relaxing as you want! If you are on the West Coast, don’t forget about Disneyland!

2. Disney Cruise – This is another great option to explore for a few day escape! Fly into the Orlando area, take transportation to Port Canaveral, and board a Disney Cruise for a 3, 4, or 5 night sailing! Unpack your bags, relax on the pool deck, get a spa treatment, go to a show in the theater, grab a snack. Your kids can hang out and make new friends in the kids clubs. The adults can enjoy an adult-only meal at fine dining establishments such as Palo, Remy, or Enchante by Chef Arnaud Lallement. Don’t forget about Pirate Night! Don’t want to sail out-of Port Canaveral? Check availability of Disney Cruises departing from Fort Lauderdale, Galveston, New Orleans, New York, or San Diego.

3. Universal Studios Orlando – Hop that plane to Orlando and experience the thrills and adventures that Universal Studios has to offer! Have muggles and wizards in your crew? The park-to-park ticket is a must! Spend time at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter‘s Diagon Alley at Universal Studios, shop at Ollivanders and cast spells with your interactive wand, and experience the ride through Gringott’s Bank. Watch out for the flames from the dragon and take a stroll through Knockturn Alley. After you have your Butterbeer, hop on Hogwarts Express at King’s Cross Station (only available if you have the park to park ticket), and disembark at Hogsmeade Station located in Islands of Adventure. Here you can soar over Hogwarts on “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” or fly deep into the Forbidden Forest to look for mythical and magical creatures. Have little ones? Make sure you spend time at Seuss Landing where you can meet Seuss characters. Want to ride an Epic rollercoaster? Head over to Jurasic World VelociCoaster! Want to spend time at an amazing Waterpark? Get the three park ticket and head over to Volcano Bay! There are aquacoasters, waterslides, drop slides, lazy rivers, a wave pool, and of course, a volcano! For my West coast folks, don’t forget about Universal Studios Hollywood!

4. Cruise – Fly or drive to a port of your liking and hop aboard a cruise ship for a long weekend escape or a longer getaway. Where else can you unpack once, have included meals, experience specialty dining, see Broadway type shows, try your luck at a casino, chill in a pool, relax in a hot tub or at a spa, have a good laugh at a comedy show, participate in game shows or contests, go on a scavenger hunt, (I could go on and on!), plus make stops at different islands? Experience new adventure such as swimming with dolphins or stingrays, snorkeling with sea turtles, sailing on a catamaran, climbing a waterfall, ATV tours, city walking tours, and more! You could cruise to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Alaska, Bermuda, Hawaii, the Mediterranean, etc!

5. All inclusive resort – This is another great Spring Break option. Think about amazing locations such as Punta Cana, Jamaica, Cancun, Los Cabos, and Costa Rica. Your all-inclusive resort is a one-stop shop where you have all you need – accommodations, meals, activities, and entertainment! Your kids can hang out in the kids club while you get a treatment at the spa. Spend time at the pool and get a refreshing drink from the swim up bar. Eat Breakfast at the buffet, lunch at the snack bar by the pool, and have dinner at an Italian, French, or teppanyaki restaurant. Want to explore your destination? Book an excursion to ancient ruins, a cenote, or go snorkeling! Check to see what watersports are included at your resort. There’s so much to do and so many choices, everyone in your traveling party will be happy!

As I mentioned, you can take a few day getaway or escape a little longer to any of these destinations. When thinking about where to go, if you have more time, consider somewhere where it’s a longer flight. If you only have a few days, look at locations where you can fly to in a few hours.
All of these options have something for everyone in your traveling party. Don’t forget, there are cruises and all-inclusive resorts for adults only as well as multi-generational groups.
