Let’s rewind to around 1989, when I got my very first Nintendo. Sure, I had an Atari before that, but the moment I saw the colorful graphics and heard the now-iconic Mario music, I was hooked. I spent countless hours dodging Goombas, stomping Koopa Troopas, and trying to time that perfect leap onto the flagpole at the end of each level. I don’t think I ever actually beat the game—but man, I gave it my all!
Fast forward to 2025 and the opening of Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort. Walking into Super Nintendo World felt like stepping straight into my childhood dreams. No exaggeration—this land is incredible. From spinning coins and snapping Piranha Plants to the classic background music and unmistakable ding of a “?” block, every inch of this world makes you feel like you’ve been sucked into the game.
Stepping Through the Green Pipe: Your adventure begins the moment you walk through the portal. There’s an escalator inside that takes you through one of the iconic green pipes, making it feel like you’re being transported to another level of the game. As you step out, you’re greeted by a vibrant world bursting with colors, sounds, and nostalgic magic. It’s one of those “you have to see it to believe it” experiences.
Level Up with a Power-Up Band:
One of the coolest features in Super Nintendo World is the interactive Power-Up Band. You can use it to collect virtual coins and keys scattered throughout the land, all tracked through the Universal app. I only had time to collect one key, but if you grab at least three, you unlock access to the Bowser Jr. Shadow Showdown—a bonus-level-style interactive experience that’s on my must-do list for next time!
Rides That Put You in the Game: Super Nintendo World has two main attractions:
🍄 Yoshi’s Adventure: Perfect for younger visitors (or anyone who loves a gentle ride), Yoshi’s Adventure takes you on a peaceful tour through the Mushroom Kingdom. Ride on the back of Yoshi, search for glowing eggs, and take in the adorable details that make this land so special.
🏁 Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge
This one’s for the thrill-seekers and longtime Mario Kart fans. Strap on your Mario hat, hop into your kart, and put on special augmented reality goggles. As you race along the track, you’ll collect coins, throw shells, and try to defeat Team Bowser in a chaotic, fun ride. We lost to Bowser, but I was having a blast the whole time!
Still on My List: Toadstool Café: Sadly, I didn’t have time to eat at Toadstool Café, but just peeking inside was enough to know it’s a must-visit. The theming looks fantastic, and the menu seems just as creative and playful as the rest of the land. Next time, that’s on my to-do list!
Final Thoughts: Super Nintendo World is pure magic for anyone who’s ever picked up a controller and tried to save Princess Peach. Whether you’re a die-hard Nintendo fan or just along for the ride, this land brings out the kid in everyone.
If you ever dreamed of jumping into your TV and becoming part of a game, this is your chance.
Go to Super Nintendo World and live your best 10-year-old life. You won’t regret it!
